What is the minimum order for standard Chart Shirts and Moisture Wicking Chart Shirts? What about re-orders?
The minimum order for standard Chart Shirts is 72 pieces, with a minimum of 2 dozen per color. The same quantity is needed on re-orders.
The minimum quantity for Performance Wicking Chart Shirts is 3 dozen. Re-orders require just 1 dozen.
Why do I need to order 72 pieces on a re-order of standard Chart Shirts? Can’t I just get a few items to fill in what I’ve sold?
Since we set up each Chart Shirt job to print when the job is ordered, we require that an order of 72 pieces, or more, is placed to justify the setup and breakdown times of the press, thus keeping the price point that we have set. To set up and print a few shirts would push the price per garment into unrealistic levels.
What is the difference between your standard Chart Shirts and the Performance Wicking Chart Shirts?
Our Standard Chart Shirts are screen printed using superior equipment and skills to obtain the finest detail and washability. Standard Chart Shirts are available on White, Serene Green, Stone Blue, Yellow Haze, and Tan, 100% cotton garments.
Our Moisture Wicking Chart Shirts are imprinted with a completely different dye process. Once the garment has been imaged with the Chart Shirt image, the print will last the life of the garment. Due to the opacity (or lack thereof) of the ink, this process is limited to white garments only. While the ink allows for fantastic color reproduction and clarity, it lacks the ability to cover a colored garment. We use the Performance Wicking Apparel because the dye will only penetrate 100% Polyester garments.
Can you print on other pastel colors besides White, Serene Green, Stone Blue, Yellow Haze, and Tan?
Over the last few years the mills have been producing garments in much smaller quantities. This means that in many instances a color or size may not be available. Over 90% of all Chart Shirts sold have been on these five ‘core’ colors.
I like navy blue, black, and red shirts. Can you print my Chart Shirts on these colors?
No, after extensive research and development, we have determined that the colors that we offer are best suited for the custom ink formulations that we use to print Chart Shirts.
Can you create a Chart Shirt for me by selecting a different region than what currently offer?
Absolutely! For a nominal art prep fee we will select a custom Chart Shirt region for you. There are some geographic considerations. Please contact us about your particular chart.
Can you create a Chart Shirt for a lake or pond? I know there is a map of it!
We are only able to use NOAA charts. The Great Lakes, Lake Tahoe, Lake Mead are the few lakes that are available. Most lakes and ponds are not available to us at this time.
Do you charge for name drops? Do you charge for screens? Do you charge for artwork?
We do not charge extra to print name drops. We do not charge for name drop screens; however we do have a screen prep fee for custom logo printing, or additional print colors. We do not charge for name drop artwork. We have a nominal art prep fee for custom Chart Shirt selection. Art fees may also apply to custom artwork.

Can I get my Chart Shirts printed on youth, toddler, or infant size shirts?
Yes and no. Due to the size of the actual print size of the Chart Shirt graphic, it is not possible to print these designs on youth garments. .However, if you are willing to order 72 or more youth size garments, we would be able to create a smaller image suitable for youth garments. This does not apply to toddler or infant size garments. It is not possible to ‘compromise’ with a design that will fit on both adult and youth size shirts.
Can I get my Chart Shirts printed on sweatshirts, or fleece?
Unfortunately, due to the thickness of the garment, the print quality on standard Chart Shirts is not acceptable on sweatshirts, or fleece garments. If you require sweatshirts, the Performance Wicking Apparel would be the best bet.
Will you print my Chart Shirts on garments that I provide?
We are sorry, but we do not print on customer supplied goods.
How long does it take to get my shirts?
This is a good question. Generally, we try to ship orders within 2 weeks of when the artwork is approved. The artwork must be approved before an order actually goes into the production cycle. Please keep in mind that at certain times of the year, orders may take a little longer. Our goal is to produce the orders in the orders in which they arrive, and as expediently as possible. All Chart Shirt order ship via UPS ground from our California plant, however faster shipping is available if you require it.
Why do I need to sign and fax back the artwork approval form? When I spoke to you, I said it was fine.
We require a written signature on all orders prior to the commencement of production. We do this to make sure that you, the client, and we, the printers are absolutely positive that the artwork is correct. The last thing that we want is for you to be unhappy with the print, for any reason, and the best way to do this is with written confirmation.
How long does it take to get my artwork approved?
This is another good question, and can depend on a few variables. First of all, workload in the art department will determine when your project can be started. It will generally start within 1-4 business days. The next factor is the complexity of the changes, and number of revisions that need to be made. So the answer to this question is that the artwork can be completed in as little as a few days, or as long as a few weeks.
Two weeks sounds like a long time, can’t you just ship a few for now?
No we cannot ship a few garments, because once a job actually goes to press, we print the entire job, until complete, then break it down and set up the next job. The amount of time required to set up and break down the press is much too high to justify doing it twice. So as soon as your job is complete, it is boxed, and shipped, usually the same day.
Can I get my company logo printed on the front left crest?
Yes, you can. First, you will need to send a copy of your logo to us via e-mail, or on disc via USPS, UPS, Fedex, etc. Vector based art is the best and we accept either Corel Draw 13 files, or Adobe Illustrator 9.0 files, in PC format. Raster based images are generally not acceptable, unless the image is 600 dpi at the final print size. For example if the print will be 3.5” across, the image must be 3.5” at 600 dpi. We accept Adobe Photoshop CS5 (or earlier) files for raster based printing. Please keep in mind that blends, complex blends, and multiple colors may require special quoting. Please feel free to contact our art dept. with any questions.
I have a multi-color logo that I would like to have printed on the front of the garments. How many colors can you print?
We can print up to 8 colors, however, there are times when a white underbase, or flash is required, decreasing the number of printable colors. Please contact our art department with any questions.
What is print ready vector artwork?
Print ready vector artwork is artwork that does not need to be altered to be printed on t-shirts. This means that all colors are specified as PMS colors, and not RGB or CMYK values. Also, all fonts must be converted to curves. The file must be saved as a Corel Draw 13 (or earlier) or Adobe Illustrator 9 (or earlier) file in PC format.
What is print ready raster artwork?
Print ready raster artwork is a file with all layers left intact, with each color in the image residing on its’ own layer. The image must not be flattened. The image size must be the final print size, and 600 dpi. We accept Adobe Photoshop CS5 (or earlier) files in PC format.
What are complex blends?
A logo with complex blends uses a number of colors to simulate more colors. For instance, using a blend of yellow and blue to create a green between them would be a complex blend. Any photo simulations would be considered complex blends. Images with complex blends MAY require sophisticated color separation techniques, which can add significant cost to the project. Please feel free to contact our art department with any question, or concerns regarding your logo.
Why can’t I just fax a copy, or send a scanned image?
A faxed or scanned image will not have the detail that we require for quality garment printing. All color information, and edge definition will be lost resulting in inferior image quality.
Once you recreate my logo, can you send a file to me that I can use on brochures?
Under the U.S. Copyright laws, all artwork that Mildly Wild Graphics creates will remain the property of Mildly Wild Graphics. The artwork prep fees are that we charge will allow us to reproduce your logo, as screen printed separations on garments. Arrangements can be made, however, to transfer copyright ownership to you, once a reasonable fee has been arranged.
Why don’t you have printed shirts on hand like other printers?
Other ‘pre-prints’ can be printed in bulk, and stored until a client purchases them, at which time the printer can add a name drop, and ship them out. Our Chart Shirts, on the other hand, are actually produced strictly for you, each and every time that they are ordered. All name drops are incorporated right into the production of the garments, insuring proper placement each and every time. Also, we have literally thousands of potential prints, and to print the designs without actual orders in place is not realistic, especially when considering our many name drop and customizing options.
My cousin prints t-shirts in his basement. Can I buy the art or screens from you so that he can print the shirts?
No, all artwork, and screens are copyrighted by Mildly Wild Graphics. To maintain the highest quality print, that lives up to our extremely high standards, all Char t Shirt printing will remain under our control. Also, we use very sophisticated screen frames, and screen mesh. The screen prep fees that you may pay are used only to pay for the labor to prep your screen, not the actual screen itself.
Can I get one printed sample shirt to see if I really like it?
Due to the incredible amount of prep time involved in printing Chart Shirts, a single sample is not feasible. We will however, send a digital proof for you to see. We also have samples for sale at a discounted price.
Can you use the same Chart Shirt artwork to produce cutting boards, mouse pads, or tile murals?
Absolutely! However, some cropping, or expansion of the selection may be necessary due to the aspect ratio of the final product. For instance, most Chart Shirt images are roughly 10”x12” (a 5:6 ratio). Ratios for other products may be 2:3, 3:4, or even 1:1 (square).
